PRE-CONFERENCE WORKSHOP

This pre‑conference training equips financial aid professionals with essential knowledge and skills to confidently administer the federal Direct Loan program. Key topics include:

Builds a strong foundation in federal Direct Loan requirements and institutional responsibilities.
- Borrower Eligibility, Limits & Loan Types
Ensures accurate determination of eligibility and correct loan awarding.
- Origination, Disbursement & Reporting
Supports precise loan processing and timely, accurate reporting to the Department of Education.
- Loan Periods, Enrollment Status & Proration
Promotes consistent, compliant application of loan rules across student populations.
- Reconciliation & Error Resolution
Reduces discrepancies, supports clean records, and minimizes compliance risk.
- Documentation, Recordkeeping & Audit Readiness
Strengthens practices needed for program reviews and audits.

Cost: Conference attendees: free Pre-conference workshop only attendees:
- If you are not currently a member but wish to attend, the cost of membership ($70) and the cost of the workshop ($10) will be reflected on the invoice for a total of $80.
- For current NYSFAAA members, the invoice will reflect $10.
How to register: Simply log into the conference registration form, you will have the option to register for the conference and select that you will also attend the pre-conference workshop OR you can indicate that you only wish to register for the pre-conference workshop.
